CD3 is a transmembrane subunit of the T cell receptor (TCR) complex. It is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily, and it plays a role in antigen recognition, signal transduction and T cell activation. CD3 is expressed by T lymphocytes (thymocytes) at the highest levels on mature cell types.
