Epithelial Call Adhesion Molecule (EpCAM, CD326) is a transmembrane glycoprotein of approximately 40 kDa. EpCAM was initially identified as a tumor associated marker having high expression in quickly proliferating epithelial tumors. As such, EpCAM has been of significant interest as a means for tumor diagnosis and therapy. EpCAM is also expressed in normal epithelial cells, but in comparatively lower levels.
